Overnight shift handling

Built-in 1pay feature

Overnight shifts, calculated automatically.

Night crews don't clock out on the same date they clocked in. 1pay recognizes an overnight shift as one continuous workday and automatically works out the night-shift hours, so payroll isn't stuck splitting logs across two dates by hand.

  • Handles shifts that cross midnight. One shift, one record, even when time-out falls on the next calendar day.
  • Night hours identified for you. Hours worked in the night window are separated from regular hours automatically.
  • Less manual checking for supervisors. Review one clean shift record instead of recomputing time cards.
  • Ready for payroll. Night-shift hours flow into payroll preparation without re-encoding.

Try the example on the right. The night window is shown as 10:00 PM–6:00 AM and the 10% rate is for demonstration. Actual pay follows each company's payroll configuration and current DOLE rules.

What makes a usable time record?

Attendance data becomes more useful when you can see the shift it belongs to, who recorded it, where it was recorded where applicable, and whether corrections or approvals are still pending.

01 / FEATURE DETAIL

Time-in and time-out

Employees record attendance through supported workflows. Time records are available for review and can help prepare the inputs for payroll processing.

02 / FEATURE DETAIL

Geo tagging without overpromising

The mobile attendance preview includes coordinates, location accuracy, and distance to the assigned work location. This can help evaluate a record, but it should not be confused with verified identity, automatic geofencing, or proof of completed work.

03 / FEATURE DETAIL

Shifts that extend past midnight

Workday templates and shift schedules help recognize attendance crossing calendar dates, including the inputs relevant to night differential.

04 / FEATURE DETAIL

Manage exceptions before cutoff

Missed punches, leave, overtime, and attendance-correction requests can move through approval groups before administrators prepare payroll.
